There comes a point when watching is no longer enough.
For a long time, I have followed the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. Every day, countless civilians continue to lose their homes, their families, and their futures. Like many others, I often felt powerless, wondering what one person could realistically do.
I am not a politician. I am not a journalist.
I am a jewelry designer.
This project is my way of contributing with the skills I have.
The key is widely recognized as a symbol of the Nakba, commemorating the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in 1948 and preserving the memory of the homes that were lost. To me, it also represents something universal: memory, loss, dignity, and the refusal to let human suffering be forgotten.
This pendant is therefore more than a piece of jewelry.
It is part of a long-term commitment.
For every pendant sold, 50% of the net profit will be donated to organizations providing humanitarian aid to civilians in the Middle East. Every donation will be documented publicly. Every amount will be transparent. Every contribution will be traceable.
I believe artists and businesses have a responsibility that goes beyond creating products.
I also disagree with the position of the German government regarding this conflict. That conviction is one of the reasons this project exists. Rather than remaining silent, I chose to use my work to support humanitarian relief and to express the values I stand for.
This project is not about asking everyone to share my political views.
It is an invitation to learn about the history behind this symbol, to reflect on the human cost of war, and to turn awareness into tangible support.
Thorn Atelier is not politically neutral.
It reflects my values, my convictions, and my belief that art has always been capable of carrying meaning beyond aesthetics.
